Friday 4 September: opening night

The opening begins at 7 pm at the Centre International de Deauville. The official schedule includes a ceremony with Ethan Hawke, a Sofiane Pamart showcase, an INA digital distinction for Roschdy Zem and the Talent Award for Ethan Hawke. Padraic McKinley’s Les Contrebandiers is the opening film and is presented in Dolby Atmos. Entry depends on ticket type and capacity, so make sure the exact screening appears on your booking.

03

The thirteen competition films

The 2026 competition has thirteen films: A Prayer for the Dying, Club Kid, Company, Everybody Digs Bill Evans, Here I’m Alive, I’ll Be Gone in June, If I Go Will They Miss Me, Méli-Mélo, The Liberation of Rita Cooper, Party USA, Mouse, Queen at Sea and Test. Several are billed as premieres. A balanced day pairs one competition film with a premiere or documentary instead of filling every available slot with gala screenings.

04

Guests, beach cabins and key dates

Saturday 5 September brings beach-cabin inaugurations for Brendan Fraser and Ethan Hawke, followed by honours for Fraser and Sophie Thatcher. Faye Dunaway is due on 8 September, Siri Hustvedt on 9, Susan Sarandon on 10 and Patrick Schwarzenegger on 11. Catherine Deneuve gives a reserved carte blanche at Les Franciscaines at 2.30 pm on 12 September, before the awards ceremony at 7 pm. Times can change, so check the official agenda before leaving.

05

Prices: €37 for a day, €170 for the festival

A day pass costs €37, reduced to €17 for under-26s, students and jobseekers with the required proof. The festival pass is €170, or €102 reduced. A star screening starts at €17, or €11 reduced. A pass does not guarantee entry to every screening because seats remain subject to capacity. A star-screening ticket reserves access under its own terms; use only the official box office.

06

Four central Deauville venues

The CID is at 1 avenue Lucien-Barrière; the Casino cinema at 2 rue Edmond-Blanc; Morny cinema at 23 rue du Général-de-Gaulle; and Les Franciscaines at 145B avenue de la République. Central distances are walkable, but security queues make tight connections risky. Films are normally shown in the original language with French subtitles unless the programme says otherwise.

07

Arrive 45 minutes early and travel light

The practical guide asks visitors to arrive 45 minutes before a screening. Backpacks and suitcases are prohibited, while handbags are admitted after checks. Last-minute admission is offered only from Sunday 6 to Thursday 10 September, not on Fridays or Saturdays. Cocktail dress is requested for star screenings. Leave luggage at the hotel or a storage facility before approaching the festival.

08

From Paris and the awards weekend

The simplest rail route runs from Paris Saint-Lazare to Trouville-Deauville. Compare the final train with the screening end time; after an evening ceremony, staying overnight is usually more realistic. Audiences can vote after competition screenings from 5 September by QR code or through venue teams. Awards are presented at 7 pm on Saturday 12 September, and winners return on Sunday 13, including the Grand Prix at 2 pm and audience award at 8.30 pm.
