Match the ticket, collection and route
A famous name does not describe the entire visit. Choose what you want to see and a route you can actually follow.
What admission includes
Separate permanent collections, temporary shows, gardens, towers and guided visits. A free reservation may still be required; a paid ticket may not cover every space. Check weekly closure, works and the selected area's opening directly with the venue.
Choose a manageable visit
Choose a few rooms or highlights rather than promising to see everything. Check steps, lifts, toilets and breaks along the actual route. An accessible entrance does not establish access to every floor of a historic building.
Quai Branly: look at objects and their histories
The Quai Branly guide suggests choosing a few collection areas and reading context, known makers, uses and provenance rather than ticking off continents. The museum’s research also places acquisitions within their histories and relationships with countries and communities of origin. Before visiting, separate collections, exhibitions, workshops and garden; confirm admission, the accessible route and essential services. An object in the catalogue is not automatically on display that day.
Paris: distinguish the monument, climb and worksite
Notre-Dame and Sacré-Cœur offer two readings of religious architecture, not the same visitor route. At Notre-Dame, free cathedral admission, the Treasury and CMN towers have separate conditions; Square Jean-XXIII is currently closed during work on the surroundings. In Montmartre, the free basilica and ticketed dome climb need separate planning. Choose what you want to observe, then check the entrance, stairs and actual approach. A view from the hill or riverbank can replace a climb, but does not establish a step-free route or access to every part of a monument.
