Find the right doorway, without a visa promise
FRA9 separates status, duration, purpose and territory. The result is cautious orientation; only France-Visas generates your list and only the consular authority decides.
Schengen short stay / exemption
For up to 90 days in any 180, the visa requirement depends on passport and status; purpose still matters.
France must be the sole or main destination; then generate the personal France-Visas checklist.
A visa or exemption does not guarantee entry or automatically permit paid work.
Respect the authorised stay and stated purpose; keep verifiable insurance, accommodation and funds evidence.
Most asked questions
How long does a France visa take?
Timing varies by location, season, category and extra checks. Follow the current France-Visas application window and avoid non-refundable travel.
How much money must be shown?
There is no single figure for every file; accommodation, duration and sponsorship matter. Use the current requirement generated for the profile by France-Visas.
Who provides the appointment?
France-Visas directs the applicant to the authorised centre. Avoid unofficial appointment sellers.
Can you work on a tourist visa?
A tourist short-stay visa is not general work permission. Employment can require prior authorisation and the appropriate long-stay route.
Does buying property grant a visa or residence?
No. Ownership and immigration status are separate; property alone does not create a visa or residence right.
Do you need a visa for France?
The answer depends on nationality, passport, length and purpose of stay, and the French territory visited. Turkish ordinary-passport holders generally need a visa for a short visit to metropolitan France and the Schengen area. Diplomatic or service passports, EU residence, family status and overseas territories can change the rule. Confirm the personal result in the France-Visas visa wizard.
Short-stay Schengen or long-stay visa?
A Schengen short-stay visa covers up to 90 days in any 180-day period; it is not a settlement route or unrestricted work permission. Study, work, family, visitor or business projects beyond 90 days need the matching long-stay category. Airport transit is a separate category from permission to enter France.

The application steps
Check the route on France-Visas, complete the online form, download the personal supporting-document list, book with the centre named for Turkey, submit the file and biometrics, and keep the tracking number. Only the consular authority decides; the application centre does not award visas.
Core supporting documents
The core normally includes a valid passport, online form, ICAO photographs, purpose evidence, accommodation, transport, travel medical insurance and sufficient means. Passport issue date, blank pages and post-trip validity must meet the official rule. France-Visas generates the exact list for the individual profile.
A coherent tourist application
Flights, accommodation, leave, income, bank activity and itinerary should describe the same trip. Unexplained last-minute deposits, false reservations and contradictions weaken the application. Use readable, chronological and verifiable evidence instead of an unnecessarily bulky file.
Student, work and family routes
University admission, employment, talent routes, family reunification and family of French or EU citizens are not interchangeable. Sponsor, prior approval, funds, language and civil-status evidence vary. Where Campus France applies, align the academic and visa calendars; for work and family, do not skip the required prior process.
Appointments, fees and processing
Capacity changes by season. Apply early enough but not before the earliest date permitted by France-Visas. Visa fees depend on age, category and exemption, while service charges depend on the centre. Check the official calculator and authorised centre before payment. Avoid non-refundable bookings that assume approval.
Appointment and intermediary scams
Appointment sales, guaranteed-visa claims, supposed consular contacts and payment to personal accounts are serious warnings. Do not enter passport or card details anywhere except the routes linked by France-Visas. An intermediary is not compulsory and cannot secure a positive decision.
If the visa is refused
Read the reason and appeal route in the refusal notice. Refiling the same evidence without identifying the gap rarely solves it. The authority and deadline can depend on visa type; follow the official address and time limit in the notice. Use an identifiable qualified adviser if legal help is needed.
Checks after the visa is issued
Immediately check name, passport number, validity, entries, authorised stay and territorial wording. A visa sticker does not guarantee admission; accommodation, onward travel, insurance and funds may still be requested at the border. Long-stay VLS-TS holders may need online validation after arrival.
