PSL University: programmes and admission
A practical guide to PSL’s institutions, English-taught programmes and application routes.
A practical guide to PSL’s institutions, English-taught programmes and application routes.
Understand the institution before applying
PSL federates 13 institutions with distinct identities. ENS, Dauphine, Chimie Paris, Mines Paris and the arts schools do not share identical specialities or necessarily one application route. First identify the institution awarding the degree.
Choose the right programme
The catalogue spans bachelor to doctorate and PSL publishes a selection of English-taught tracks. The language filter is useful, but applicants must still check prerequisites, fees, campus and the language expected for a dissertation or internship.

The admission route
Applications are decentralised by degree. Masters, PhD tracks and institution-specific diplomas can have very different calendars. A shortlist of two or three well-understood programmes is stronger than a generic application.
Language and academic level
Check the programme’s actual teaching language, required CEFR level, equivalencies and subject prerequisites on the official degree page. A strong language certificate does not replace academic preparation; an English-taught degree may still require French for campus life, internships or options.
Build a convincing application
Connect grades, prior courses, experience and future plans to the precise degree content. CV, statement, transcripts, translations and references must tell one coherent story. Follow format, length, upload method and deadline; extra documents can hide the evidence that matters.
Budget, housing and visa
Add tuition, student-life contribution, insurance, housing, deposit, transport and daily costs. Paris and the Saclay plateau require different housing strategies. Admission is not a visa: follow Campus France and France-Visas whenever your profile requires them.
Final checklist
Confirm the degree-awarding institution, campus, language, calendar, fees, documents, platform and official contact. Save proof of submission, monitor the portal and keep an academic and financial alternative. Rules and amounts can change, so the official sources below prevail.
