Rankings and quality

IVAL combines bac results, progression from seconde to diploma and value added for pupil profile. A raw 100% pass rate is insufficient. Compare track, subjects, support, school climate, distance and placement route.

Public: address and placement

A famous name does not grant free enrolment in the public system. Placement depends on academy, address, places, level and sometimes a commission. Families arriving from abroad contact DSDEN or the rectorat; schooling and French assessment may involve CASNAV.

04

Private, international and BFI

Private schools set dates, tests, interviews and fees. International sections assess language and academic ability under academy rules. The BFI is a demanding bilingual route, not a simple English option.

05

Foreign pupil file

Prepare identity, parentage, address, several years of reports, school certificate, last completed level, required translations, vaccinations and guardian evidence. Add language tests only when requested and retain the current school place until written placement.

06

Subjects and university plan

Check actual specialities, combinations, languages, European or international sections and arts options. Assess curriculum continuity rather than name alone; Parcoursup reads the individual file in context.

07

Minor, residence and boarding

School admission and immigration status are separate. A minor without parents needs legally clear guardianship and housing; boarding does not automatically replace a representative. Verify visa, insurance, health, leave and holidays before paying.

08

Calendar

Contact the academy and school months before rentrée, then align placement, housing, visa and arrival. International tests may have separate dates. Keep a realistic local alternative until selective admission is written.
