Vintage, archive or pre-owned?
Vintage generally means an older piece; archive points to a documented season or designer work; pre-owned simply means previously owned. None guarantees rarity or quality. Ask for a reference, date and precise description rather than trusting a seductive label.
Read the real condition
Inspect friction points, handles, corners, lining, closures, soles, hems and odours. Restoration can be excellent but should be disclosed; alterations may change size and value. Ask for daylight photos and a written defect list.
Compare the right price
Compare the same reference, material, size, year and condition; asking price is not sale price. Add authentication, cleaning, repair, commission and delivery. A cheaper piece needing heavy restoration may cost more in the end.
Boutique, platform or private seller
A boutique offers physical inspection and advice; a platform may add protected payment and authentication; a private seller requires more verification. Read who the legal seller is and who carries the risk if something is wrong. Return rights vary by seller status and channel.
Buy to wear
